Morning Minute 9/24/24:

“Do Something Positive…Every Day!”

You know the issues encountered with daily living.

These include disagreements and arguments, between you and your spouse, children, parents, siblings, or your “ex!” You have financial obligations. Your vehicle, heater, or plumbing breaks down. Or, you experience betrayal by your friend or neighbor.

You have problems in your professional life. Your boss is a tyrant or a buffoon. You co-workers gossip about you, or lie to you. You are in a dead end job that neither uses your talent, nor your brain. Your competition is way ahead of your team. Or, your business continues losing money.

There is an effective way to help you avoid what you anticipate will be a “bad” day. Do something positive, where you win, every morning. It may be as simple as reflecting on a positive experience. Or doing an easy task for a quick win. You can complement and/or offer to help someone else. You may even help someone have a “great day!”

Here are some ways to help you endure, even prosper, in times of chaos. When you make a mistake, admit it quickly, and take responsibility for it. If you offend or harm someone, contact them quickly to apologize. If someone offends you, forgive them quickly. Remember that anger and jealousy negatively affect you, much more than the other person. They probably don’t even know what they did, or what you are feeling. And, forego the urge to “get even” with them regardless of the severity of their action.

Scheduling today, what you want to accomplish tomorrow, will positively make you more effective. You avoid missing something because you forgot about it. Using a written or electronic calendar keeps you on track to get more accomplished. Employ the physical action of crossing out or putting a checkmark next to the tasks that you accomplish. Those simple actions will help you accomplish more each day. They will greatly improve your self-image, and put you in a more positive frame of mind.

Doing something positive early in the day, every day, will help you defeat negative thoughts. For instance, each morning, I take a 2-3 mile walk to spent my private time with God. I thank Him for His blessings, ask Him for the wisdom to solve my problems and the courage to endure the setbacks that will occur that day. Many people I know read and reflect on a bible verse to begin each day. Others, at the end of each day, recap their day, celebrating their wins and learning from their difficulties. Then, there are those who exercise each morning to feel better about their health and their bodies, as they log their first win of the day.

Finally, in order to track your spending, and keep your money working for you, use a written budget. Weekly, review your actual spending vs your budget. Then, make the required changes to stay on a positive financial path!

Remember, you are both responsible for, and able to, control your thoughts, your actions, and your expectations. Be sure to keep all these positive!
